Today being Valentine’s day we’re marking the passing of legendary vocalist Whitney Elizabeth Houston (August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012) with our Legends Never Die Remix of “Love Will Save the Day” available for free download now via auraldopamine.bandcamp.com

Whitney was born in New York to a Gospel Singer Mother and a Father who was an Entertainment Manager (Side notes: her mother was the cousin of Dionne Warwick, her Godmother was singer and actress Darlene Love and had extended family like honorary auntie Aretha Franklin).

Raised as a Baptist, she was singing solo in church by the time she was 11, by her teens touring with her mother, singing backing vocals for artists like Chaka Khan by the time she was 15, and modelling in the 80’s, she was no doubt an exceptional talent that became the first act EVER, solo or as a group (male or female) to sell a million copies of an album (The Bodyguard).

She became an actress in 1992 starring alongside Kevin Costner in the blockbuster “The Bodyguard” to mixed reviews, but undeniable ticket selling ability which at the time made the movie one of the top 100 grossing films in history. She then went on to star in other high grossing films such as “Waiting to Exhale” and “The Preacher’s Wife” making her the highest paid Afro-American female actress at the time. The soundtracks to both albums sold millions of copies with singles like “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” and “I Believe in You and Me” that both sold over a million copies worldwide.

In 1992 she married R&B bad boy Bobby Brown who together were parents to one child Bobbi Krisitna Brown who unfortunately passed away on the 26th of July, 2015.

Together the two became black music royalty who had what can only be described as a colourful relationship that was well documented by the media.

Unfortunately, Whitney was found unconscious on February 11, 2012 in the bathtub of Suite 434 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and pronounced deceased at 3.55 pm in the midst of the Grammy Award celebrations shocking the music world and becoming another genuine superstar (that sold over 200, 000, 000 records) taken away from us too early.

She defined the word diva, inspired a generation of vocalists, Whitney we celebrate you as a Legend that will never die by remixing your hit “Love Will Save the Day” taken from the album of the same name. R.I.E.P! We hope you like it!
